This four wide receiver formation used in today's game against the Dallas Cowboys has the widest pass catchers beyond the numbers - note that the ball is between the hash marks. This produced enough space to effectively throw a slant pass before the safety could stop it. This was the gift that Baylor's Art Briles used and Sid Gillman pioneered in the 1960s.
